Why Do Some Polyester Clothes Smell After Sweating?
Some polyester garments can retain or interact with odor-related compounds differently from cotton, and research has found stronger odor intensity from polyester after exercise in controlled testing. Odor is produced by interactions among sweat, skin microbes and textile properties, so it is not simply a matter of “dirty fabric.”
